Note to the prospective reader:

1) Book title somewhat misleading since (A) being published renders 'secret' redundant, and (B) I strongly object to being labelled 'demented' — no men in white coats came visiting. 'Housewife' I suppose I must live with (along with my husband, Joe, and little Katie and Jack, poor dears).

2) This is an account of a year in my life (for better or worse — you, the reader, must be the judge), and at the time most of it made a kind of sense to me — even the secret trip to LA to spy on Joe.

3) Please don't take my obsession with Brad'n'Jen'n'Angelina and all things Heat to mean that I'm trivial and/or brain-dead. I'm merely keeping up with 'current affairs'.

4) Beloved mother and mother-in-law - on no account take to heart certain unfortunate words and sentiments. Or at least, take them with a dose of salt. We all have moods, after all. You should know.

5) Social services and eco-mums — put the book down. Now. You'd only turn red or blue, and the resulting fuss would make us all worse off. Go save a planet. Or two.

6) Katie and Jack - if you ever get to reading age, this is all my little joke. Ha ha. No lawsuits against Mummy, please.
